The tragedy was reported by diver and photographer Sam Wild, who is currently on the islands. According to him
Rescue services that arrived at the siteaccident, found 97 dead black dolphins and three more bottlenose dolphins. The other 26 animals were alive, but they had to be euthanized, as they had been on land for too long and could not return to the sea.
The reasons for this behavior of black dolphins and bottlenose dolphins are now being clarified.
Earlier, the death of 150 dolphins was recorded off the coast of Stewart Island, located in the south of New Zealand.
