In Russia, the coronavirus was compared to the “Spanish flu”

The chief infectious disease specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Vladimir Chulanov, compared the new type of coronavirus with the so-called

“Spanish flu”. We are talking about the Spanish flu, the epidemic of which lasted from 1918 to 1920.

“This is also a respiratory infection that is transmitted by airborne droplets. Therefore, of course, there are common features in the distribution ”, - the professor shared with the publication RIA Novosti.

At the same time, according to the expert,the epidemic potential is higher in coronavirus infection than in common flu. This is hinted at by the high distribution index. It was in this regard that COVID-19 spread easily and caused a pandemic.

In Russia, for the entire time of the pandemic, 1,563,976 people fell ill with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,171,301 were cured, while 26,935 died. On October 29, 17,717 new infections were recorded.
