Research: tropical cyclones move faster in recent decades

Manoa Technologies (SOEST) showed that tropical cyclone activity has shifted poleward in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

Scientists took data on character changescyclones since 1982. It was this year that climate change began to be measured using satellite data. Based on this piece of information, the researchers estimated the frequency and location of storms, as well as their speed.

Hawaii residents are at risk from hurricanesEvery year. If hurricanes move faster, they will pose a risk to coastal communities and emergency managers because they will have less time to prepare for evacuations and other measures.

As a result, it became clear that cyclones became more active. This is attributed to natural variations as well as climate change.

Researchers continue to study trends and relationships between climate and tropical cyclones.
