Found a way to determine how specific viruses kill cancer cells

As a senior researcher of the Laboratory of Radiocarbon Analysis Methods told the agency

With the help of the new method, researchers can study the ability of oncolytic viruses to be selective to destroy cancer cells. It will also be possible to detect the content of viruses in the composition of any biological object.

Recall that oncolytic viruses can selectively destroy cancer cells without affecting human health in any way. This method of cancer treatment is considered to be one of the most sparing.

In order to develop the method, scientists from Novosibirsk State University used the example of the influenza virus to observe how it concentrates in various tissues of living beings. To do this, they contributed to thisthe so-called radiocarbon label, an isotope of carbon (C14), which scientists used to record on a device that detectsthe movement of molecular masses (accelerator mass spectrometer), where the virus accumulates the most.

It is planned that the new method will become one of the most advanced Russian developments in the fight against various types of cancer.
