Scientists from Israel and Poland make a microscope with unlimited resolution

The development of biology and medicine requires more detailed structures and relationships of ultra-small objects,

for example, proteins in cells. An ordinary microscope is not enough for this, and electron microscopes can only examine inanimate objects, since the sample must be placed in a vacuum.

A new modification of the microscope operates on the basisthe already known imaging scanning microscope (ISM) method. In this way, correlations of intensities detected by several detectors are calculated. In this regard, the measurement of nth order correlations increases the resolution by a factor of 2n; accordingly, the new microscope operating method has no resolution limit.

According to scientists, the new method requires low costs; you only need a confocal microscope, in which it is necessary to replace the photomultiplier with a matrix detector.

This makes it possible to create a microscope with unprecedented detail, four times the diffraction limit.
