Let us remind you that not only humans can get coronavirus, but also other mammals: rhesus monkeys, minks, ferrets and cats.

One of these cases were predators fromBronx Zoo. Employees noticed that several tigers and lions began to sneeze and cough. After this, the staff  The zoo conducted one of the first tests for traces of coronavirus in the body of animals. As a result, it turned out that four tigers and three lions from the New York Zoo in the Bronx, who became infected with a new type of coronavirus at the end of March this year, were carriers of two different strains of SARS-CoV-2.

Also COVID-19 was found  all fivezookeepers. Moreover, in one case, the genome of the human virus completely coincided with how the SARS-CoV-2 RNA from the sputum of one of the tigers was arranged. The lions, it turned out, were infected with a different form of coronavirus: its source is not in New York, but in Connecticut.

All animals, except one tiger, survived the infection quite easily and did not die. After this incident, the zoo developed new rules for caring for cats.
