Free internet in Russia turned out to be slow

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia shared the details of the project

"Accessible Internet". This project allows Russians to get free access to socially significant Internet services. According to the ministry, free internet is slow in Russia.

Project "Accessible Internet" is being tested in Russiafrom April 1, 2020. According to the operators participating in the experiment, over 1 million unique users have used free access over the entire period. But the average internet speed was only 1.7 Mbps.

The Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of Russia also announced that the virtual mobile operator SberMobile has joined the experiment on "Accessible Internet".

Now the list of socially significant resources includes 371 sites and services. The experiment will end on December 31, 2020.
