Former OnePlus CEO Carl Pei revealed last week that he plans to release his Nothing brand.

Journalists of the 9to5Google edition found in the databaseUK Intellectual Property Office documents according to which the startup Nothing now owns the trademark, logo and the entire Essential brand. The application for ownership was filed on November 11 last year, and the transfer process took place on January 6, 2021. Karl Pei has not yet commented on the purchase.

For those who are not in the know, Essentialcreated by Android founder Andy Rubin in 2015. In 2017, the manufacturer launched its first and only smartphone, the Essential Phone. Despite the high marks, it never became popular and in 2020 the company announced that it would cease operations.
