How to jailbreak iOS 11 - iOS 11.1.2 using the Electra tool

The developer and hacker coolstar has released the Electra tool for developing tweaks for iOS 11 - iOS 11.1.2. It is intended for

so that developers can test their tweaks and themes.

The Electra jailbreak is better than the LiberiOS jailbreak in that it supports Substitute - an alternative to Cydia Substrate, so you can install tweaks and themes with it.

  • Jailbreak is semi-tethered, like LiberiOS.
  • Before installing, back up your device via iTunes.
  • Charge the device so that the batteries last for the entire installation process.

This is the first released version of the tool, soWe do not recommend rushing with its installation. If you have never installed a jailbreak before, we advise you to wait for the release of the Cydia update for iOS 11 and a jailbreak that will install Cydia automatically. If you know what you are doing, you can proceed to the instructions below.

Step 1: Download the Jailbreak Electra and program Cydia Impactor

The latest available version of Electra can be downloaded from official sitewhile Cydia Impactor from here. Cydia Impactor is available for macOS, Windows, Linux (32 and 64 bits).

Do not download Electra jailbreak from other sites, they may contain viruses.

Step 2: Download IPA-file Electra to the device through Cydia Impactor

Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer using a Lightning cable.

Launch Cydia Impactor. The program should detect your device. Drag the jailbreak IPA file you downloaded earlier into the program window. Enter your Apple ID and password and wait for the download process to complete.

If a “provision.cpp: 168” error occurs in the process, read our article on how to fix it.

Step 3: Start Trusting Your Profile

When the file loads successfully, open Settings and go to General> Profiles and device management.

Click on the profile with the Electra app and select Trust.

Step four: Run process jailbreak

Open the Electra app from the home screen and press the button Jailbreak.

Step 5: Wait

After some time, a screen should appear with a message stating that the jailbreak has been successfully installed.

Congratulations, you did it!

How does a semi-tethered jailbreak work?

Every time your devicereboots, jailbreak ceases to work. You can no longer use the installed tweaks. To reinstall the jailbreak, simply open the Electra application and do the above process again.

When is the deadline Electra and how to update it?

If you installed Electra jailbreak viaFree Apple ID, it expires after 7 days. You will have to download the file again through Cydia Impactor every week. The process will be the same. You only need the Electra application to reinstall jailbreak after rebooting the device, and the expiration will not affect it in any way.

How to install tweaks using jailbreak Electra

Cydia is not yet compatible with iOS 11, so tweaks will need to be installed manually through the .deb and .theme folders on the computer. In addition, developers need time to update their tweaks for iOS 11.
