Local residents complain about the smell and color of the water in Lake Baikal: the prosecutor's office and the TFR began checking

As Taiga.info was told in the Baikal Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office, the field check passed 20

August with the participation of the prosecutor, specialists of Rosprirodnadzor, the Investigative Committee. If serious contamination is found, violators face punishment up to and including criminal liability.

Specialists have selected water samples, we willcheck the quality of work of local treatment facilities, since the arguments of citizens - everything happens through the fault of treatment plants, they do not cope. But what was installed yesterday - it seems there is no such critical pollution. While we are working, we will check, in any case, the work of the treatment facilities will be assessed.

Experts have already taken water samples. Meanwhile, employees of the supervisory department intend to assess the quality of the treatment facilities. Sample analysis results are expected to be available within a week.

As the agency notes, residents of the Kabansky district of Buryatia have previously complained about the state of the water more than once.
