"Clamshell" without folds and external screen: what will be the first folding smartphone OPPO

Chinese company OPPO appears to be planning to join the foldable smartphone makers club.

What
to wait

OPPO has patented a foldable smartphone design with the World Intellectual Property Organization. And the LetsGoDigital edition compiled device renders based on this documentation.

Judging by them, the gadget resembles Motorola RAZR andSamsung Galaxy Z Flip. That is, it is a "clamshell", which when unfolded looks like a regular smartphone, and when folded it has a rather compact size. Also, the hinge allows you to fix the display in a certain position - 30, 60, 90 and 180 degrees. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has the same function: it allows you to put the device on a surface without any stands and covers and more effectively use the split screen.

In addition, OPPO assures that this smartphone will not have folds in the fold of the screen. Recall that already released models have not yet got rid of this problem.

But this "clamshell" has no external screen - only a large flexible display, so the smartphone will have to be constantly opened.

Of course, this is just a patent, so it's not yet clear if OPPO will bring this idea to life.
