Modern cell towers turned out to be defenseless against hacker attacks

Modern cell towers turned out to be defenseless against hacker attacks. At least that's what he said

specialists of the German Institute for Information Security named after Horst Hertz.

According to data published by experts, theymanaged to "eavesdrop" on the conversations of cellular subscribers, using for these purposes the base stations of operators and their own method of decoding the content of telephone conversations. We are talking about calls made via VoLTE - this particular technology turned out to be extremely vulnerable to hacking.

According to researchers, in order tolisten to the next conversation of the subscriber, the hacker must call the victim, and then keep the conversation on the line for as long as possible. Thus, five minutes of a conversation with a hacker will allow him to listen to about five minutes of the next conversation of the subscriber in the future, using a hole in the security of towers and VoLTE technology. At the same time, German experts also noted that the vulnerabilities they discovered can be used when designing the protection of 5G 5G mobile networks.
