US plans to test light tanks

In 2021, the US Army decided to test prototype light tanks. Based on their results, the military will decide

what kind of vehicle to put into service with the infantry.

The tests will test two types of tanks.They are being developed by BAE Systems and General Dynamics as part of the MPF tender, which was announced in 2018. Under the terms of the order, it is necessary to create light tanks that could be transported by C-130 Super Hercules and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. In total, BAE Systems and General Dynamics developed 12 prototype vehicles.

Tank inspections will take place at Fort Bragg in North Carolina from January 4 to June 2021. The first light combat vehicles should enter the Army by 2025.
