Instead of recycling, thousands of iPhones, iPads and Apple Watch went on sale: Apple has already filed a lawsuit

Apple filed a lawsuit against Geep Canada, a company that recycles equipment, including Apple products.

Gadgets.

What happened

Apple signed a contract with Geep Canada in 2015year. Over several years, 531,966 iPhones were sent for recycling, as well as 5,673 iPads and 19,277 Apple Watches. But, as it turned out, some of these gadgets were returned to sale, that is, instead of being disposed of, the devices were sold again. About 18% of these 103,845 devices were active in operator networks; in addition, models without LTE support could not be tracked.

Geep Canada does not deny this fact, but accusesThere are three employees in all. And this is understandable, because it is easier to shift all the blame onto a few people and not tarnish your reputation. But Apple insists that these employees are from the company's senior management.

Looks like the scam has been exposed a few more times.years ago, after which Apple ended its partnership with Geep Canada. The lawsuit was filed in January of this year, but this story became known only now.

Now Apple is demanding a full return of profits from the resale of gadgets, as well as $22.7 million in compensation. Geep Canada counterclaimed.
