How to Set Up Messages on Mac
If you haven’t yet launched Messaging on a Mac, you will first need to enter your Apple ID details. Use the same Apple ID that you have linked to iCloud, the App Store, and other devices.

How to forward messages from iPhone
If you are already using Messages on iPhone, you can configure them to be forwarded to Mac too. This is very convenient if you work for a Mac and don’t want to be distracted by the iPhone.
one)Open the appSettingson your iPhone and selectMessages.
2)Select hereCall forwarding.
3)Turn on the switch next to your Mac. If there are other devices in the list, such as an iPad, you can forward messages to them as well.
Now, when a message arrives on your iPhone, it will appear on the Mac, from which you can answer.
You can also return to the settings at any time and disable this feature if it bothers you.
How to change message settings
You can configure the storage period of messages, the type of notifications about them, and also select the location for saving files from Messages.
From the menu bar, selectMessages>Settingsand then select the tabMain.
- Leave messages: Choose how long messages will be stored on the Mac: 30 days, 1 year, or indefinitely.
- Program: Customize the options of the program itself to your taste.
- Sound upon receipt of a message: Here you can select notification sound.
- Saving received files: Select where to save files received in messages.
- Text size: Use the slider to adjust the font size of the messages.
How to send messages
To send a message, click the buttonA new messagein the upper left corner of the program. Enter the recipient's name and select from the suggested contacts. You can also click the plus sign on the right and select a contact from there.
Now enter the text of your message and press the keyReturn/Enter.
Quick replies
Messages has a convenient Tapback feature. It allows you to quickly reply to messages with your thumb up, thumb down, or a question mark.

2)SelectAnswer Tapback.
3)Now select the appropriate icon for your answer.
Contact Actions
In the upper right corner of the program you will see a buttonRead more. Information about the contact with whom you have a dialogue is collected here.
You can share the image of your screen with a contact, start a call using FaceTime, etc. Attachments from your dialogue are also displayed here.
You can also enable Do Not Disturb and read notifications.
If the contact shared a location with you, you can view its current location on the map.

How to delete messages
You can delete specific messages and entire dialogs at once. After that, they cannot be restored.

To delete an entire conversation, select the conversation from the menu on the left and click the iconX. You can also select from the menu barFile>Delete.
How to exit Messages
If you want to stop receiving messages on your Mac, you can sign out of your account.
Open the programMessages, on the menu bar, selectMessages>Settingsand then select the tabiMessage. Next to your Apple ID, clickGo out.
