We hide the list of users on the lock screen of Windows 8, 10

One of the features of the Windows 8 and Windows 10 lock screen is a list of all user accounts on

computer.But what if you created an account to run a service or a secret administrator account and you don't want everyone to see it on your lock screen? By editing the registry settings, you can hide some users appearing on the lock screen.

First, open the Registry Editor by clicking on the buttonStartby typing the commandregedit, and pressEnter. Go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES>Microsoft>Windows NT>Current Version>Winlogon. Next you need to create a new partition. Right-click on the Winlogon key, select New, then Partition. Name itSpecialaccountsand pressEnter.

Create a new section in Regedit

In the created SpecialAccounts section, create another one and name itUserlist.

Now you will need to specify the credential namesThe entries you want to hide. Right-click on UserList and select Create, and then DWORD Parameter (32 bits). The name of this parameter should be the same as the name of the account you want to hide.


Once you log out, your user account will no longer be visible. The process can be reversed by simply removing this DWORD value.
