Ranked 22: Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Front Camera Fails DxOMark Test

Back in August, Xiaomi introduced the Mi 10 Ultra smartphone, the main camera of which is still considered

one of the best on the market (second place in the DxOMark rating). But with the front camera things are much worse.

Not good

DxOMark specialists conducted testingselfie cameras of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and were not delighted. Its advantages include usually accurate exposure on faces; neutral white balance in most conditions; effective video stabilization; well-controlled video noise; accurate video exposure; pleasant skin tones in bright light and indoor video; good detail in video clips in bright light.

But there are more disadvantages. These include limited dynamic range, clipped highlights in photos and videos, visible noise, especially in low light, hue shift, flare, color quantization artifacts in photos and videos, inappropriate flash exposure, unnatural blur effect in portrait mode, facial details that are lost in video, especially in low light, unnatural colors and skin tones sometimes appearing in video, rather ineffective video stabilization, jelly effect, unnatural skin tones in low light video.

Evaluation

As a result, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra received only 88 points: 86 for photos and 91 for video. And this is only 22nd place in the overall DxOMark rating.

“The quality of selfie still imageslargely unchanged compared to its little brother, the Mi 10 Pro: it delivers properly exposed, detailed photos in optimal conditions, but its dynamic range can't match the best competitors and results in frequent clipped highlights when challenged by a wide brightness range . Portrait mode is a bit disappointing. On the other hand, the video score of the Mi 10 Ultra is noticeably better than that of the Mi 10 Pro, mainly due to improved stabilization,” concluded DxOMark experts.
