AMD processors of all generations compared in performance

The first AMD Ryzen processors came out in 2016. Since then, the company has managed to release three more generations of CPUs.

Eight-core models from each were compared with each other in terms of performance.

The first model is Ryzen 7 1800X.After it came the Ryzen 7 2700X, followed by the Ryzen 7 3800X and finally the Ryzen 7 5800X. They all have 8 cores and 16 threads, but differ in architecture. The processors were tested on X470 and X570 motherboards. The memory frequency in the test bench was set in accordance with what each architecture supports.

In games, the current Ryzen 7 5800X model turned out to be80.9% faster than the first Ryzen 7 1800X. In regular programs, the most modern AMD processor outperformed the old one by 72%. That is, in four years, processors have made significant progress.

Overall, each new generation of Zen architecture yielded between 16% and 27% performance gains.
