Apple today unveiled the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus at the presentation of “Hey Siri, give us a hint” at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Like any other ‘S’ update, the new iPhones have the same design as their predecessors.

The highlight of the new iPhones is the 3D functionTouch, which adds a new way to interact with your phone. Unlike Force Touch on the Apple Watch, 3D Touch is used on newer iPhones to speed up certain everyday tasks. For example, pressing hard on a link in Safari will open a small pop-up preview of that link without actually clicking on it. It will also allow you to quickly peek into the contents of any iOS app by pressing harder on the screen. The new iPhones also feature Taptic Engine to provide better and more accurate vibrations when you use 3D Touch.

While iPhone 6s and iPhone 6sPlus retained the design of the previous models, Apple used a 7000 series aluminum body to improve its rigidity and avoid body flex. The addition of a new 3D Touch chip and an aluminum body makes the new iPhones thicker, heavier and larger than their predecessors.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now equipped with a chipApple's latest generation A9. The chipset consists of two 64-bit cores that provide up to 2x performance improvement compared to the A8 chipset. Apple also claims that the GPU inside the A9 is now up to 50% faster.

Apple has also updated the FaceTime camera on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to 5 megapixels. The new FaceTime camera can also use the Retina display's backlight as a flash.

In order to make the most of your newcamera, Apple provided “Live Photo”. This feature allows you to use the new iPhones' 3D Touch technology to revisit the moment you took the photo.

Apple is offering the new iPhones in four colors: Silver, Gold, Space Gray and a new Rose Gold option.
