Apple classifies the first MacBook Pro with Touch Bar as a vintage device

Apple will soon add the first MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar to its list of vintage products. Discuss

Early MacBook Pros with Touch Barwere released in October 2016. In addition to the Touch Bar, laptops then received a thinner and lighter chassis, a butterfly keyboard, Touch ID, an enlarged trackpad and lost all ports except Thunderbolt and a headphone jack. As a result, Apple removed the Touch Bar from the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, but it's still available on the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple classifies a device as "vintage" five years after it was last sold. The full list of devices that will go vintage on July 31 is below:

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, two Thunderbolt ports)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, four Thunderbolt ports)
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • MacBook Air (13-inch, 2015)
  • MacBook (12-inch, 2016)
  • iMac (21.5-inch, 2015)
  • iMac (27-inch, Retina 5K, 2015)
  • iPad Pro (9.7-inch Wi-Fi)
  • iPad Pro (9.7-inch, Wi-Fi + SIM)
