Apple Releases First WatchOS 3.2 Beta with Cinema Mode

While initial rumors about "Cinema Mode" claimed that it would first appear in iOS 10.3, recently

It turned out that this feature should actually appear on Apple Watch devices.

Currently, Apple officiallyreleased the first beta version of watchOS 3.1 for authorized developers, in which, as one would expect, the Cinema mode is really present. This mode allows users of Apple Watch devices to disable the Raise to Wake function [raise their hand to activate the screen] so that it does not suddenly interfere with a comfortable viewing of the movie. The vibration response will still work in the “movie theater” mode, and to activate the screen, the user just needs to touch the screen or press the Digital Crown wheel.

“Introduced in “watchOS 3.1.3," Cinema Mode allows users to quickly mute their Apple Watch devices and avoid waking up the screen when lifting their wrist while holding the device. Users will still be able to receive notifications (including haptics) while in Cinema mode, which they can view by tapping the screen or pressing the Digital Crown.

Another major addition that Apple is talking aboutexplained in detail in its published documents, is the addition of “SiriKit” support, providing app developers with access to the Siri function in the same way as it is now in iOS 10 applications:

“WatchOS 3.2 includes "SiriKit".Users can ask Siri on their Apple Watch to book a trip, send a message, make a payment, or make other requests that your app can handle.

Applications that provide services incertain domains can use the SiriKit framework to make these services available through Siri on watchOS. Providing access to these services requires the creation of one or more extensions in the application using the framework of Intents objects and their implementation as interface elements. The Sirikit framework in watchOS supports services in the following domains:

  • Message exchange
  • Making payments
  • Trip booking
  • Fitness workout
  • Making calls
  • Search for photos

Developers need to have a deviceiPhone running iOS 10 to take advantage of the beta. The software can be installed through the special iOS application “Watch”, in “General” -> "Software Update". To download and install the beta, your Apple Watch must have at least 50% charge and be charging. The iPhone must also be within range of the Apple Watch.

At the time of publication, no other major additions were found, but if anything comes up, we will update this post accordingly.
