Boeing receives $313.4 million to upgrade 25 F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets to extend service life by 4,000 flight hours

American manufacturer Boeing received a contract to modernize multirole fighters of the fourth

generation F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The upgrade will significantly increase the service life of the aircraft.

The deal was valued at $313.4 million. The funds will help Boeing modernize 25 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jets that belong to the US Navy.

After the upgrade, the service life of fighters will beincreased from 6,000 to 10,000 flight hours. The modernization also involves the installation of new Block III level avionics. Work under the contract will take place in Texas and will be completed in February 2025.

F/A-18E/F Super Hornet equipped with twoturbofan engines F414-GE-400, which allow you to reach speeds of 2222 km / h (Mach 1.8). The aircraft carries AIM-7 Sparrow, AIM-9 Sidewinder, Harpoon missiles and is equipped with a 20 mm Vulcan cannon.
