China copied Su-27, S-300, Patriot and Soviet missile designs to create J-11 fighters, HQ-9 air defense systems, DF-21 and DF-26 ballistic missiles

The fact that Chinese craftsmen can copy a telephone, a car, or even a settlement (Hallstatt) will not surprise anyone. But now they have mastered the art of reverse engineering.

What is known

According to 19FortyFive, China copiedSu-27 fighters and S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. They are based on Russian and Soviet developments. The People's Republic of China purchased equipment from Russia.

Su-27 / J-11

Let's start with airplanes. The People's Liberation Army of China uses Shenyang J-11 fighters, which are based on Russian Su-27 aircraft. The Chinese fighter jet looks just like its Russian counterpart.

It is worth noting here that in 1995 Chinaspent $2.5 billion to purchase a license to produce 200 J-11s. After the license expired, it is likely that Chinese engineers began to reproduce the components without asking permission from Russia.

Patriot / S-300 / HQ-9 / HQ-9

Between 2003 and 2010, China bought from Russia15 batteries of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. Chinese specialists "transformed" them into their own HQ-9 air defense systems. In this case, the engineers were also inspired by the American Patriot air defense systems.

China is also known for its anti-shipground-based launchers DF-21 and DF-26. They are called "aircraft carrier killers". The missiles are based on the developments of the Soviet Union in the 70s of the XX century. The Chinese were able to improve Soviet developments and create their own missile, resistant to enemy interception means.
