Gaming industry in 2020: $174 billion in profits and the dominance of mobile phones over PCs and consoles

The GamesIndustry.biz website summed up the results of 2020 in the gaming industry, naming the most successful platforms and projects.

Over the past year, the industry has shown growthprofit of 19.6% compared to last year, earning a total of $174.9 billion. $86.3 billion (49%) of total earnings came from mobile platforms (smartphones and tablets), showing an increase of 25.6%. The console market earned $51.2 (29%) billion, and PC gamers contributed $37.4 billion to the treasury.

2020 was also a year of complete dominance of digital distribution, with boxed edition sales accounting for just 9%. The figure accounted for 91%.
