GitHub will introduce a new feature to donate code developers

Any user registered on GitHub will be able to become a sponsor of the project.

In addition, GitHub has also launched a fund that allows you to double the amount of donations to projects in the first year. For each developer, the service offers additional funding of $5,000.

Users who want to support the project will be able to choose several types of sponsorship: one-time or a subscription to the project through services like Patreon, Tidelift, Ko-fi and Open Collective.

GitHub is the largest web service for hosting IT projects and their joint development. Initially, its cost was estimated at $ 5 billion, but Microsoft bought it in the summer of 2018 for $ 7.5 billion.
