Henry Cavill leaves The Witcher after season 3: Netflix has already chosen a new actor for the lead role

Even though The Witcher season 3 hasn't been released yet, Netflix's streaming service is already

renewed it for season 4. However, fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's best-selling series are in for a big change.

What's new?

In the fourth season, we will no longer see Geralt inperformed by Henry Cavill - he will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, known for such films as "Hunger Games" (Hunger Games), "The Last Song" (The Last Song) and "Independence Day: Resurgence" (Independence Day: Resurgence).

Why Cavill left the series is not specified in the Netflix release, but it may be due to his return to the role of Superman in DC Comics films.

"My journey as Geralt of Riviawas filled with both monsters and adventure, and alas, I'll lay down my medallion and swords in season four. Instead of me, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the baton with reverence for the time spent in the incarnation of Geralt, and I am enthusiastic to see how Liam perceives this most charming and subtle of men, ”said Henry Cavill.

At the same time, Hemsworth is delighted with the new work:

“As a fan of The Witcher, I am delighted withopportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill was an incredible Geralt and I am honored that he is handing over the reins to me and allowing me to take the blades of the White Wolf into the next chapter of his adventures. Henry, I have been a fan of yours for many years and have been inspired by what you have brought to this beloved character."

The premiere of season 3 of The Witcher is scheduled forsummer 2023, and before that - on December 25, 2022 - the premiere of the spin-off of the series called The Witcher: Blood Origin will take place.
