iOS 16 RC developer release on Wednesday, 9to5Mac learned that the system will now warn users about fake AirPods. Discuss

Code found in internal system files, shows that iOS 16 can detect fake AirPods. Some of these fake models are identical copies of original AirPods, and they can even run some system features like auto-pairing and a battery indicator.

With the new version of the iPhone operating system andiPads will warn users when they try to pair fake AirPods. "These headphones cannot be tested as real AirPods and may not behave as expected,– the message says.

"Learn more" button should redirect the user to a support article on the Apple website with more detailed information on how to identify original AirPods.

The alert will also prompt the user with the option"Do not connect." However, at least for now, there is no sign that Apple will block these fake AirPods from working with iPhones and iPads. The system was created specifically to detect fake AirPods that are trying to fake the official Apple protocol, so there is no need to worry about other headphones.
