MIT students recreate their Minecraft campus

A group of MIT students created a server in the game Minecraft and built a virtual campus of their university, preserving

all the details and especially important places for them. This project is inspired by other initiatives at US universities, such as UPenn and Brown, which have also created virtual buildings.

Students explained the project that they could not get to the university because of the pandemic. The virtual building will allow them to gather in places to which they are accustomed, and spend time together there.

Colleges and universities throughout the United Statessent students home and switched to distance learning for the remainder of the semester. MIT switched to distance learning after the student passed the positive test for COVID-19, while others did it in advance. Now many educational institutions plan to continue their studies in the fall of 2020.

Minecraft game Microsoft bought in 2014year for $ 2.5 billion, remains one of the most popular in the world over the past 10 years. Before the pandemic, 112 million active players played it every month, the number of which, but after the spread of the coronavirus, the number of users grew to 145 million.
