On November 6, 1995, 3dfx released the first 3D accelerator capable of processing complex scenes in high resolution.
The famous video card was named Voodoographics and made a splash in the computer industry. Almost all major game developers have announced support for the new video accelerator in new and future games, and the graphics in computers have reached what is now commonly called "nextgen" (next generation). The Open GL port of the Quake shooter was especially popular.
