The scientists structured a thin film of gold with ring-shaped low-energy laser pulses.

With the help of sharply focused spatially structured pulses in the film, holes are created with gold nanodiscs inside.

We have demonstrated a great opportunity.the use of a fully optical approach for structuring substances at the nanoscale and efficient plasmon nano probing. The result shows new opportunities that the amplifying effect of the interaction of structured light and structured matter opens up.
