Qualcomm's new chipset beats all current ones, even Apple. Snapdragon 875 highlights

A Twitter user shared the AnTuTu results of an unnamed high-end device running on the Snapdragon 875. Based on its score, it doesn't look like an engineering piece. The Snapdragon 875 scored almost 850,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark app, significantly ahead of the A14 Bionic.

Yes, of course, this will give a small increase in performance, however, it will also add problems with heating the device. A problem that Oppo developers will have to work with.

In early December, Qualcomm will officially unveilSnapdragon 875. If the AnTuTu benchmark results are to be believed, this event is worth a look. It's unclear whether Qualcomm plans to announce other chips during the event. The company is apparently working on its first 6nm chip, the Snapdragon 775G, which will replace the Snapdragon 765G. 

Experts already expect Qualcomm's successor to be about 20% more power efficient than the Snapdragon 865. Performance could be increased by 10%.

Several reports suggest that the phones areThe Snapdragon 875 will be faster than the iPhone 12. While Android users may rejoice at this prospect, the expected high price may prevent some Android manufacturers from equipping their 2021 phones with the promising chip.

For example, it is claimed that only the most expensive model, the Samsung Galaxy S21, will run on the Snapdragon 875, while the rest will either use their own chip or settle for the Snapdragon 865.

Then again, it might not even be the fastestSnapdragon 875, which will be released by Qualcomm, as previous reports hinted at the possibility of announcing two variants. While it's unclear whether both chipsets will be announced together or separately, the second one could be called Snapdragon 875G, according to a leaked roadmap slide. 

Comparison with competitors

  • A14 Bionic

Apple recently unveiled its series of smartphonesiPhone 12. The iPhone 12 lineup consists of 4 phones - iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Of these, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones were spotted today on the AnTuTu testing platform, which gives us device performance metrics. And here are the AnTuTu scores for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices.

Starting with iPhone 12, smartphones have 4 GBRAM and 256 GB of internal memory, the device itself runs on iOS 14.1. The iPhone 12 managed to score 564,899 in the AnTuTu test, 167,894 in the CPU test, 201,085 in the GPU test, 105,677 in the MEM test and 90,243 in the UX test.

The iPhone 12 Pro, on the other hand, has 6GBof RAM and 256GB of internal storage and scored 572,133 on the AnTuTu test, 167,437 on the CPU test, 196,812 on the GPU test, 114,462 on the MEM test, and 93,422 on the UX test.

As a result, the iPhone 12 scored about 565,000 points in the rating. Much less than its competitor - Snapdragon 875 with its 850,000 points.

Interesting enough that the AnTuTu iPhone 12 scoresand the iPhone 12 Pro fall short of expectations when it comes to comparisons with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. Of course, AnTuTu's scores may not fully match actual device performance. Plus, with different RAM capacities, AnTuTu scores vary, so keep that in mind. Still, some fans were disappointed.

  • Kirin 9000

Although Huawei still does not want to officiallyTo unveil the Kirin 9000 chipset that will be used in its future flagships, AnTuTu and Geekbench results have leaked enough to gauge the performance you can count on.

The Mali-G78 GPU (number of cores unknown) scored 287,000+ points. However, it is slightly inferior to the graphical result of the Exynos 1080. 

Kirin 9000 outperforms current Snapdragon 865 withits result of 693,000 points. However, it is still far from the expected result of the Snapdragon 875. The first phones using the Snapdragon 875 will arrive in the first quarter of next year. Perhaps they will take the leading positions in all power ratings.

  • Exynos 1080

Samsung announced the Exynos 1080 chipset with5G support. It is the successor to the Exynos 980, which was first introduced in the Vivo X30 series last year. The Exynos 1080 is Samsung's first 5nm chipset. Experts suggest that it will be the basis for the Vivo X60 series. She is now waiting for her debut in China. AnTuTu recently shared a snapshot of benchmarks for the Exynos 1080.

The Exynos 1080 chipset has four main coresa Cortex-A78 processor clocked at 2.1 GHz and four smaller Cortex-A55. The SoC is equipped with a Mali-G78 GPU. As you know, Exynos 1080 is designed for mid-range phones. AnTuTu tests show that the Exynos 1080 powers an unknown to the public, a device codenamed ORION.

The mysterious ORION Android 11 device has a screen that supports 1080 x 2376 pixels. The device has 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory.

Best results from Android devicesXiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is currently listed in the AnTuTu database. This model, by the way, is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. In the GPU test, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra scored 258,171. And Exynos 1080 is only 15% faster.

The new Snapdragon 875 is following trends with impressive growth again. Exynos 1080 with its 693,000 points in the AnTuTu test is inferior to the new product from Qualcomm.
