Creative director of the project Mike Miki said, that the development team wants not just to rebuild MediEvil, but to release the project that gamers fell in love with 20 years ago. So, along with improved graphics and gameplay, players can expect the spirit of the original game to return.

“In the code of the original game we found comments aboutwhat kind of music the creators of the original game listened to while working. This helped us understand the mood in which they created this or that level,” said project producer Jeff Nakbaur.

The developers also boasted that they receivedaccess to the original MediEvil source code for PlayStation One. There, the authors of the remake found bosses and levels that were not included in the 1998 version. According to producer Jeff Knakbaur, the original game was intended to be larger, and it looks like gamers will be able to see the cut content in 2019.

“It's almost like an archaeological project:we dug up a ton of material, talked to the original team, tried to find out what their vision was and how they felt at the time. All this became the starting point for the subsequent development of the game, its presentation, its mechanics.
