Rocket Lab was unable to deliver seven satellites into orbit

Rocket Lab spoke about the “failure” of the 13th mission to deliver seven satellites into Earth orbit. First stage

The launch of the launch vehicle went well, butengineers lost the device at an altitude of 200 km. The company did not comment on the details of the accident, but noted that they “had a problem with the second stage.”

The two-stage rocket was launched atMahia Peninsula in New Zealand. No one was injured as a result of the accident, and there was no damage to the launch site. Rocket Lab added that this is an unusual situation for them - before this they successfully completed 11 launches in a row. Now the company is already working on a replacement - they are developing eight more Electron rockets that will deliver satellites into orbit.

“We lost our device."I'm incredibly sorry that we were unable to deliver the satellites and make them available to our customers. Rest assured, we will find the problem, fix it and get back on site soon."

Peter Beck, Founder and CEO of Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab's Electron Rocket Maybring to a low reference orbit up to 250 kg of cargo. The cost of launching a rocket is from 4.9 to 6.6 million dollars - this is significantly less than launching the same cargo with a medium or heavy class rocket. Rocket Lab said they could revolutionize the space rocket market.

First successful satellite launch by RocketLab was held in November 2018. What makes Electron special is the ability to launch small satellites into orbit using a separate rocket, rather than as an additional payload to the missions of large space projects such as Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle.
