Russian helicopter set a speed record

The Russian Mi-171A2 helicopter set a speed record over a limited distance of 1.6 km. This happened on

festival "Baikal Mile".

According to the Russian Helicopters holding,a civilian helicopter under the control of the crew of the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (U-UAZ) has a speed of 268.81 km / h at a minimum permissible height of 20 meters. The country’s record was set during three test flights.

It is also reported that the flights started from a hover mode. The results were recorded by a mobile GPS station on the Mi-171A2. The pilots have already been awarded a certificate from the Russian Book of Records.

Note that the Mi-171A2 is the latestmodification of the Mi-8/17/171 type helicopters. The device is equipped with VK-2500PS-03 engines with a digital control system. The helicopter is designed for search and rescue, medical, transport operations, extinguishing fires or transporting passengers in almost any environment.
