Samsung unveils PRO Plus and EVO Plus SD cards for drops, radiation and salt water

Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has announced two lines of full-size SD cards for

cameras: PRO Plus and EVO Plus.

What is known

Both series received cards with volumes ranging from 32 to 256GB, read speed up to 100 MB/s and UHS-I interface. The write speed of PRO Plus cards reaches 90 MB/s (60 MB/s in the 32 GB version), but the company does not report this figure in EVO Plus. Most cards are U3 speed rated, with the exception of the 32GB and 64GB EVO Plus variants. They are U1 class.

The new items are resistant to falls from a height of up to 5 meters.In addition, they are not afraid of water. Even salty. According to the company, they can be left in depths of up to 1 meter for up to 3 days. PRO Plus and EVO Plus can operate in temperatures from -25°C to 85°C. They are also not afraid of radiation (for example, an X-ray scanner at the airport) and magnets.

Price and when to wait

Samsung's new SD cards will be available on October 19, excluding the base PRO Plus models. They will be released on November 8th.
