Scientists have determined the life of coronaviruses on objects

German scientists have determined the lifespan of coronaviruses on objects. As it turned out, viruses can remain

active on various surfaces for a long time.

Scientists have summarized all known information aboutresistance of human coronaviruses on the surfaces of objects. A review of 22 scientific papers showed that some coronaviruses can survive on metal, glass or plastic for up to nine days at room temperature. Fortunately, they can be eliminated by surface treatment with solutions of ethanol, hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite.

The researchers did not study the coronavirus specificallyCOVID-19, the outbreak of which began in China late last year, but it is believed that its persistence on objects will not be much different from other viruses in the family. However, scientists note that it is currently unknown whether a person can get COVID-19 by touching an object with the virus and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes with their hands.

Scientists also said that low temperature and high humidity increase the life of coronaviruses.
