Scientists in China have figured out how to disguise the transfer of classified data under the sounds of whales

Transmitting information underwater becomes more difficult when it comes to secret messages, because they can be detected

and intercept. Additionally, the sounds of dolphins and whales tend to interfere with military communications. However, these interferences can be used to your advantage, Chinese scientists are confident.

The trick is that the sounds of such seamammals like whales and dolphins are usually considered interference, so they are usually filtered. Accordingly, if the signals are masked for the natural sounds of the inhabitants of the ocean, then no one will be able to detect them.

Chunyue Li, study author

A group of Chinese scientists led by ChunyueLi has already developed a prototype of a technology for transmitting secret signals disguised as the sounds of communication of marine mammals. Experiments have shown that the technology is suitable as an effective tool. The authors of the study are confident that such developments will interest the military from different countries. It is possible that the sounds of whales and dolphins that fill the ocean will often be artificial.
