Startup started printing salmon for restaurants on a 3D printer

Israel's Plantish, a company that hopes to change the food industry, in particular the way we eat fish.

The company hopes that the new technology, which is already being used to deliver products to restaurants, will helpPreserve fish populations.

For its production, the startup usesvegetable components that are enriched with proteins and omega-3 in proportions comparable to real fish. Producers note that their fish includes all proteins and essential nutrients, but is free of mercury, microplastics and other pollutants common in the ocean.

Salmon production is only the first step inway to modernize the food industry, company representatives say. Their plans include the creation of all types of fish that are sold and consumed in the form of fillets.

According to the Food andUN Agriculture Organization, world fish consumption will increase from 179 million tons in 2018 to 204 million tons in 2030. This change will have a significant impact on the development of the oceans and may create environmental problems if the fish catch increases.

It all started when we realized that our oceanthe source of all life on earth is dying. Overfishing is causing enormous environmental damage to our oceans, yet the demand for fish is at an all-time high and is only growing.
