Tablets lost popularity again after quarantine was lifted

Digitimes Research analysts said that in the fourth quarter, global tablet shipments reached a record high.

the last 13 quarters were 51.56 million units. However, experts are in a hurry to disappoint manufacturers: already in the first quarter of 2021, deliveries are expected to decline by 31%.

Analysts said global tablet shipments rose 17.6% in the fourth quarter of 2020, driven by seasonality and demand amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Brands also accelerated their supply rates due toconcerns about an aggravating chip shortage in the first half of 2021. Apple's low-cost 10.2-inch iPad also contributed to tablet purchases. Now we should expect a decrease in supplies, mainly due to a shortage of components.

Analysts also said that consumer demand is shifting towards larger models.
