TCL will stop producing smartphones under the BlackBerry brand

Since 2016, TCL has been producing BlackBerry smartphones, but now information has emerged that the Chinese company

decided to stop production.

What is known

TCL announced the news on Twitter.According to the published letter, the company will stop producing and selling BlackBerry devices starting August 2020. Despite this, the manufacturer has promised to support existing devices until 2022 inclusive. We are talking about BlackBerry KEYone, BlackBerry KEY2, BlackBerry KEY2 LE and BlackBerry Motion.

Why TCL took this step is unknown. One might assume that the company wants to focus on devices under its own brand. By the way, the first TCL smartphone was released last year at IFA 2019. The company is also now preparing to present new products at MWC 2020.

Let us remind you that TCL is not the only manufacturerwhich had a license to produce BlackBerry smartphones. There are also Optiemus and BB Merah Putih, but these companies haven’t released anything for a long time. So BlackBerry devices will apparently no longer be on the market.
