THQ Nordic released a remake of the first "Gothic" on Steam, and the fate of the game is up to you

In the sea of ​​announcements with The Game Awards, a new THQ Nordic project was lost, which introduced and released a remake of the first

"Gothic".

What is known

Back in May 2019, the Nords bought PiranhaBytes together with the intellectual property of the studio - the series Gothic, Risen and ELEX. The new owners decided not to throw the team’s achievements into the box and began to return to the cult “Gothic”.

Steam released a remake of the first Gothic, butonly a two-hour demo. THQ Nordic Barcelona, ​​who wants to release an updated version of the cult RPG, took up the development and asks fans to help with the correct recreation of the universe on Unreal Engine 4. After the demo, the players will be asked to take a poll, according to which the fate of the remake will be determined.

Some fans have already tried the demo,and the first Steam reviews are “mostly positive.” Losers scolded a remake for optimization and colorful graphics, as the original was darker. The combat system flew into the piggy bank of pluses, emphasis on research and general improvement of graphics.

The demo remake of "Gothic" is already available inSteam, and users can play with at least one Piranha Bytes game in the library - Gothic 1-3, Risen 1-3 or ELEX. If, according to the results of testing, the teaser will appeal to the audience, then THQ Nordic Barcelona will receive more funding and additional employees for development. At the same time, the release is not worth waiting for soon.
