U.S. experience big kamikaze drone

The basic version of the Switchblade kamikaze drone was developed in the early 2010s and is already in service with the US Army in

for several years. The ammunition weighs 2.5 kg, and after being dropped from an aircraft it can glide for 20–40 minutes.

The device can accelerate to 60 km / h andperform flights both under operator control and offline. The drone can also return to a sufficiently large distance from the target if the operator canceled the attack.

Details about the new version of the kamikaze drone have not been disclosed. What is known is that it is larger than its predecessor - and, as a result, can carry a larger charge.

It is planned that the tests of the increased version of Switchblade will be completed before the end of 2020. By the same time, AeroVironment plans to receive orders for the first devices.

Formerly General Atomicsstarted a new testing cycle for the MQ-1C drone. The developers plan to test the drone as a drone carrier and missile gunner.
