YouTube will remove messaging feature

Starting September 18th, you will no longer be able to post to YouTube.

In favor of comments

Messages

have never been particularly popular on YouTubetype of communication. But it's a pretty convenient way to send someone a video without having to go to other apps. Company representatives did not specify why they decided to remove the feature, but said they wanted to focus on expanding the comments section:

“We are constantly reviewing our priorities and have now decided to stop using YouTube’s direct messaging while focusing on improving public conversations.”

Perhaps in the future there will be more tools for moderating comments.

In the mobile application, users are stillwill be able to share videos directly from the site by clicking the “social networks” button. In the desktop version, you will have to copy the links and send them to a separate messaging app (most likely, most have done this before).
