Drako's GTE electric car will be a four-engine monster with 1200 hp

The new Tesla Roadster won't be the only super-powerful electric car we'll see in the near future. Drako Motors

(a startup created by the co-founder of BarracudaNetworks by Dean Draco) showed GTE to the public. This is an electric sedan built to put the most powerful cars in the world to shame, regardless of their powertrain. The basis of the electric car is a direct drive system of four motors, producing 1,200 horsepower and almost 9,000 Nm of torque. And although the GTE horses – not a world record (the Bugatti Chiron has as many as 1,479 of them), it will take off from a standstill like a bullet. The company has not yet revealed how long it takes the car to accelerate to 100 km/h, so we can’t brag just yet.

The manufacturer also claims maximumspeed of 332 km/h. Again – Not a record, but it's more than can be expected from high-performance electric cars. What's more, Drako has included sporty parts like Brembo ceramic brakes and Öhlins suspension. The car is based on the Fisker Karma chassis, but nevertheless, four people can fit inside along with luggage.

If there's one thing you can complain about, it'sautonomy. Drako installed a 90kWh battery in the GTE and have not yet said how long it will last. A four-engine power plant of such power – a serious test for the battery. So don't expect to travel long distances. Especially if you like to hit the gas. But at least charging will be fast using a 150kW charger.

One thing is already clear:Drako launched GTE worldwide. Production is about to begin, and the first cars will be delivered in 2020. The biggest obstacle – exclusivity. The company will produce only 25 copies, costing $1.25 million each. The $200,000 Tesla Roadster seems like a commodity next to the GTE. But in reality this is not the case. This fact only proves that electric cars can compete with the best of the best.
