Indeed, rumors surrounding foldable smartphonesis getting bigger and bigger. Meanwhile, Korean media are reporting some details about the new Galaxy Fold 2. It will feature a larger 8-inch display compared to the first version's 7.3-inch screen. The manufacturer is also forced to abandon some production aspects. In particular, the Galaxy Fold 2 will now use an 8-inch sheet of glass from DoInsys. The company has developed a glass protective film for foldable displays and has apparently created an ultra-thin tempered glass that can be applied to flexible smartphones.
Needless to say, the so-called ultra-thinglass (UTG) is more durable than the “regular” polyimide protective film that Samsung currently uses on the Galaxy Fold. How can glass bend without breaking? Well, the key word here is thin, and this glass has proven to be surprisingly durable.
Regarding the release date of the Galaxy Fold 2, the firstbatches of innovative DoInsys glass for the 8-inch Galaxy Fold 2 display should be by the end of the year. Therefore, we can assume that the Galaxy Fold 2 will be released around the spring of 2020.
