IFA 2019: new laptops ASUS ProArt, ASUSPRO B9 and smartphone ASUS ROG Phone II with your own eyes

</ img>

ASUS introduced at IFA 2019 an impressive number of new products, including updated gaming laptops, already

previously introduced ASUS ROG Phone II, whichNow I got to Europe and got official prices. But the main emphasis was placed on a series of devices under the general name ProArt. It includes computers, laptops and monitors that are aimed at the creators of various kinds of content: photos, videos, 3D-graphics, effects, and so on. The line has been around for more than a year, but right now the company decided to do ProArt thoroughly and “rolled out” a very large number of new products at once. In particular, a whole scattering of laptops that are not inferior in terms of performance and sometimes even superior to gaming models: top-end processors up to the server Xeon are installed inside, and Nvidia RTX Quadro solutions for graphics processing.

ASUS ProArt StudioBook One

The most unusual of the new laptops has becomeflagship ASUS ProArt StudioBook One (W590). And it is interesting not only for its powerful filling, but also for its unusual design. All the power of the laptop is located in the display unit, and the keyboard unit is made thin. When you open the laptop, the lid of the display unit opens (like the Zephyrus series) for good cooling of the insides. The design is unusual and the display unit is thicker and heavier than the keyboard, but (in theory) thanks to this arrangement, the laptop can be kept on its knees even at maximum loads.

The keyboard unit and the keyboard itself are not quitestandard: the key travel is slightly reduced. It is difficult to say how convenient this will be in practice. According to first personal impressions, there will not be any particular difficulties. The touchpad is very impressive on the diagonal and it is made perfectly: the glass with a nice coating and a very high sensitivity make it extremely convenient. Again, subjectively, this is one of the best (if not the best) touchpad that I have ever used.

Now about the insides. The laptop is equipped with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 graphics with 24 GB of video memory. Processor - Intel Core i9-9980HK with a clock frequency of 2.4 GHz and Turbo Boost technology up to 5 GHz. RAM 32 GB DDR4, and for data storage installed PCIe NVMe SSD at 1 TB. The laptop is equipped with a 15.6-inch 4K display of 120 Hz with Gorilla Glass 5. The screen is Pantone certified and has a color gamut of 100% RGB color space. Of the connectors, there is only 3x Type-C with support for Thunderolt 3 and DisplayPort 1.4. The laptop weighs 2.9 kg.

Next up is the ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730. It already has a more familiar form factor, it is equipped with a main display with a diagonal of 17.3 inches and a resolution of 1920 × 1200 (aspect ratio 19:10), it also has Pantone certification. The optional ScreenPad 2.0 display is combined with a touchpad. Inside can be a 6-core Intel Xeon E-2276M processor with a clock frequency of 2.8 GHz, Turbo Boost up to 4.7 GHz or a 6-core Intel Core i7-9750H with a clock frequency of 2.6 GHz Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz . Video card - NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 with 16 GB of video memory. The laptop can have an impressive 128 GB of RAM and up to 6 TB of storage (2 x SSD, NVMe, PCIe Gen3 x4, 1 x HDD), RAID 0/1 is supported on the basis of solid-state drives with a direct connection to the processor (up to 48 Gb / s).

Of the ports there are 2xThunderbolt 3 (USB-C) withSupport for DisplayPort 1.4 (40 Gb / s), 3 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gb / s), HDMI 2.0, card reader SD 4.0 / UHS-II (312 MB / s) and Ethernet. The laptop looks pretty straightforward. And thanks to the 17-inch form factor, it was possible to install a full-size keyboard with a separate NumPad.

The main difference is the graphic component. Instead of the Quadro line, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6 GB of video memory is used. Below is a slide with an entire new line. ASUSPRO B9 (B9450)

</ img>

Continuing the theme of laptops, which in the firstthe queue is designed to work, another novelty with IFA 2019 is ASUSPRO B9 (B9450). The line is also not new, and before we had it presented. The main feature of the AsusPro B9 laptop is its very low weight: only 880 g with a 14-inch display. This applies to the model with a 33 Wh battery. A model with a larger battery, at 66 Wh, will also be available, it weighs 990 g, which is also very small. It feels like the laptop is really incredibly lightweight, while it does not seem flimsy or unreliable. Apparently, the case is made of some kind of magnesium alloy. The design uses the ErgoLift mechanism, which is already familiar to us, which lifts the back of the lower cover in the open state.

</ img>

The frames around the screen are very thin, and heThe 14-inch FullHD display occupies 94% of the front panel. Inside will be installed Intel Core processors of the 10th generation of the mobile U series. The laptop can have up to two PCIe SSDs with a capacity of 1 TB each, which can be combined into RAID0 / 1 arrays. Network capabilities are represented by a Wi-Fi 6 module and a Mini Ethernet port. I suspect that the kit will have a full-size adapter. Of the ports there are 2x USB-C Thunderbolt 3, one full-sized USB, HDMI and a combined audio port. Of the bonuses is an infrared camera for the Windows Hello and NumberPad functions. The laptop will enter the global market in the first quarter of 2020, more detailed information is promised later.

ASUS ROG Phone II

</ img>

Now let's move from the business segment to the gaming one. The gaming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone II was introduced earlier, but now it has reached Europe, has got prices and terms for the start of sales and the Ultimate version. Recall that the smartphone has a new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor with increased frequencies and video core performance compared to the “regular” Snapdragon 855. These internals are cooled by a CO with an evaporative camera, plus there will be an external cooler, like in its predecessor. The smartphone’s design recognizes aggressive features familiar with the first model and a highlighted logo. But the ROG Phone II turned out to be less easily soiled from the back: the back cover has an unusual coating on which fingerprints do not particularly remain.

</ img>

The smartphone is equipped with a 6.59-inch OLED display withResolution 2340 × 1080 pixels (Full HD +). The frame refresh rate is 120 Hz using a touch panel with a frequency of 240 Hz for the fastest response. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. For personal impressions, the screen is excellent and the high refresh rate has a very positive effect on perception. But so far not all games and applications support more than 60 fps.

Inside ROG Phone II has 12 GB of RAM512 GB UFS 3.0 memory and storage. The main camera is dual: 48 megapixels plus 13 megapixels, a front camera of 24 megapixels. A bunch of accessories will be available, including a ROG Kunai gamepad with two separate controllers, a TwinView Dock II, an AeroActive Cooler fan and so on.
