MediaTek, as promised, today announced its first processor with a built-in 5G modem.
What
Known
The new product was called Dimensity 1000 and this is the flagshipeight-core SoC built on a 7-nanometer process technology. The chipset uses four powerful Cortex-A77 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.6 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz. The Mali-G77 accelerator is responsible for the graphics of the new product, and the APU 3.0 module is responsible for processing the AI function, which is twice as productive as the previous version (4.5 million operations per second).

MediaTek Dimensity 1000 comes withbuilt-in 5G modem. It supports both standalone and non-standalone network architectures (SA/NSA) and can also operate on previous generation networks starting with 2G. The maximum download speed in sub-6GHz networks reaches 4.7 Gbit/s, and the data transfer speed is 2.5 Gbit/s.
The processor also received support for cameras with several modules, LPDDR4x-1866 RAM up to 16 GB, displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1+.
When to expect
The processor has already begun to supply smartphone manufacturers. The first devices based on this SoC will appear in the first half of 2020.
