Scientists have found plastic at the bottom of the Arctic Laptev Sea

As part of the expedition, biologists using deep-sea vehicles examined more than 4 square meters. km of the bottom. Plastic, by

according to Tatyana Dautova, senior researcher at the National Scientific Center for Marine Biology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it was found in almost every section of the bottom.

At the same time, the message does not indicate what sizes the plastic pieces had, and whether scientists are going to continue to study the extent of pollution of the northern seas.

Fragments of domestic plastic were, unfortunately, found in all our samples - from the mouth of the Lena River to the slope of the shelf. The analysis in our center showed that these are plastics of the PET group (polyethylene terephthalate), used, as a rule, for the manufacture of bottles and corks.

Previously, scientists from Incheon National University found that most brands of table salt, which is sold throughout the world, contain microplastic particles.

Chemists analyzed the 39 most popularbrands of salt and in 36 of them found particles of microplastics. Most of these particles are contained in sea salt (1,674 particles per kilogram) - this is due to the pollution of water bodies with plastic waste. On the second and third places are stone and lake salt (462 and 148 particles, respectively).

Germany recently presented a plan for phasing out plastic products, which in the coming years will allow the country to reduce the amount of plastic produced and used by almost half.
