Sony and Disney make peace: Spider-Man will not leave the Marvel Cinema Universe

Recently, like a bolt from the blue for fans of superhero films, Sony Pictures announced a breakup

collaboration with Marvel Studios and the return of Spider-Man entirely into its hands. However, today the companies made peace and agreed that Spidey will remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What do you think

Disney, which owns Marvel Studios, and Sonymade a joint statement that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige would return to the producing chair. He will be accompanied by Amy Pascal, who worked on the two previous films, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

Together they will work on the third part of the Spider-Man story, which is due to hit the big screens on July 16, 2021. The same Tom Holland will play the main role.

Let's remember, after the success of the film "Spider-Man:Far From Home” Disney suggested that Sony split all profits in half. However, she insisted on the old conditions: Sony bears all the costs of filming and takes 95% of the profits, while Disney and Marvel remain 5% of film receipts and all funds from merchandising (toys, souvenirs, etc.)

As a result, Disney was able to negotiate 25% of revenues and all merchandising revenues.

“I’m glad that Spider-Man’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not over, we’re very glad that we will be able to continue working on him,” said Kevin Feige.

“Over the last four years we have developedgreat collaboration, and our shared desire to continue was as strong as that of many of our fans. We are very excited to move forward together,” added Sony Pictures Entertainment Chief Communications Officer Robert Lawson.
