They want to block YouTube, Twitter and Facebook for discrimination against Russians

The Prosecutor General, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, if the initiative is approved, will be able to assign the status of a foreign resource

"the owner of an information resource involvedto violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, the rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation.” On this basis, the agency will be able to impose sanctions against a specific resource.

In particular, such a decision can be made if the resource has limited access to information on a national basis or because of the imposition of sanctions against Russia or its citizens.

Under the threat of sanctions, platforms can be requiredcorrect violations. If this is not done on time, then the supervisory authority will be able to “restrict, in whole or in part, access to the relevant information resource”. Also, as measures of influence, resources can slow down traffic or be fined for non-compliance with Roskomnadzor requirements.

The authors do not hide their goals: sanctions can be imposed on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. They can be canceled only if the resource removes restrictions on materials from Russian media.
